Mark Hamill's tribute to Carrie Fisher panel.
With this year marking the first Star Wars Celebration since Carrie Fisher passed away last winter, there were plenty of touching words said about the late actress and writer by colleagues and admirers alike. But no one gave Carrie quite as wonderful a tribute as Star Wars brother Mark Hamill.
Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher formed a strong bond on the set of Star Wars and an even stronger friendship after the film turned them into international superstars. Therefore it should come as no surprise that Mark Hamill has some truly delightful, touching stories about Carrie Fisher in his own Star Wars Celebration panel that was a nearly hour-long tribute to the woman he refers to as his “beloved space twin.” Fortunately, you can watch Mark Hamill’s tribute to Carrie Fisher panel in its entirety right now.
Mark Hamill covers plenty of ground from his friendship with Carrie Fisher, including addressing whether or not there was any real romance between the two, despite the fact that they went from sparking a romance in Star Wars to becoming brother and sister in the sequels that followed. Hamill said this panel was a way of helping him cope with the loss of Carrie, “I’m trying to use you as therapy to get through this together,” he told the fans in attendance, who waited hours to get into the panel.
If you haven’t started watching the video yet and you’re confused as to why the thumbnail features Mark Hamill extending his middle finger, he said this during the panel:
“When I think of her, she’s looking down from the celestial stratosphere with those big brown eyes, that sly smile on her face, as she lovingly extends me the middle finger. And that’s how I want you to think of her. That was Carrie.” And for those wondering about her final performance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Hamill said, “Wait until you see her in The Last Jedi. You’re going to love her.”
If you have an hour to kill, it’s worth watching this entire panel.
